Balladir does chamber punk. Sarcastic folk songs of love and war, told with soft strings and dark harmony, fiddles and accordions and mirth. These sonic candle-lights seek to honor the dusty arts of heraldry, epic poetry, and the singing telegram. Inspired by such modern folk heroes as Gary Gygax, Clarisse McClellan, and Calliope of Nestus, Balladir champions anachronisms that should've never been forgotten. With a wink and a warble, we wish you wit.

This year, Balladir brings to the stage “The Last Android in Kansas, and Other Stories”. Told mostly to music and with a garnish of theatrics, the tales you will hear here span centuries and worlds. From an ancient Italian story about a princess who cuts off her own hands, to a fairy tale romp about mulberry gnomes bear-dancing, through a future full of space travel, existentially questing AI, and kick-boxing egg-nog drinkers, we will endeavor to enliven you dreams and lift your spirits.

"Lift your voices, let the tune be heard

Cataclysms come and go sometimes

We who watch them all are simple folk
Peasant people, digging in the earth."
